Chalet Hauteville

Genuine ski-in, ski-out in 1850 is a short list, and Le Rocher is at the top of it. Chalet Hauteville returns directly onto the Bellecôte piste — not a two-minute walk, not a shuttle, but an actual door onto snow.

The building is 2017 but reads considerably older, because the external larch was reclaimed from four Savoyard barns and left to weather rather than treated. Inside, five levels are stacked around a central stair, with the principal reception on the third to put the Mont Blanc massif at eye level from the sofa rather than above it.

The spa level is the part guests do not expect. A twenty-metre pool cut into the rock, hammam, snow room, and two treatment rooms — all below ground, all naturally cool, and all served by a plant room sized for a building twice this size.
