Villa Kamala

Kamala's western headland — locally and unglamorously known as Millionaire's Mile — has perhaps twenty properties with a genuinely unobstructed sunset aspect. Villa Kamala is one of them, and it was built by an architect who chose to work with the gradient rather than flatten it.

Four levels step down the slope, each one a single terrace deep, so that no room in the house looks at another. The upper deck holds the pool and the principal reception; the two below are bedrooms; the lowest is a spa and gym that opens onto planting rather than view, which was a deliberate and slightly brave decision.

A full management agreement transfers with the sale — the same operator has run the property since completion, with staffing, maintenance, and rental administration in place. For a non-resident owner this is the difference between an asset and a project.
